Looking Back at Our Year

With the end of June we see the end of the Inner Wheel Year and what a great year we’ve had – full of fun and fellowship and the opportunity to support some very deserving good causes along the way.
During the year we've been entertained with visits from Rotary Club of Tettenhall President Roger Webb; we’ve heard from Sarah Addis about the work of Look Good Feel Better whose volunteers provide confidence boosting skincare and make-up Workshops and Masterclasses for women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer; and in March we were joined by Tettenhall Rotary Club member Keith Bradshaw OBE who shared with us the story of his year as High Sherriff of the West Midlands

Inner Wheel District Chairman Ann Ward visited our Birthday Fellowship meeting in November when we head from Dina Perry one of the expert horticulturists from the world renowned David Austin Roses and in January Trevor Reoch, Officer Commanding 1046 Squadron ATC Fordhouses, joined us to tell us more about the work of the Squadron.

Christmas found us filling shoe boxes with gifts for distribution by International Aid Trust and helping Wolverhampton Santa Claus visit boys and girls throughout the City as well as collecting pants as part of the Smalls for All campaign.

In May we were joined by another Tettenhall Rotary Club member as Chris Kraushar took us on a tour of 900 years of European history and his family’s fascinating involvement

We spent a happy couple of days with Inner Wheel members from across Great Britain and Ireland in Bournemouth at the Inner Wheel National Conference and in May enjoyed a wonderful visit to the gardens of Mitten Manor.

Our fundraising events have included our bric-a-brac and cosmetic lucky dip stalls at the Tettenhall Round Table Summer Fete, and have seen us lapping around Aldersley Stadium as part of the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton’s Best Foot Forward, our Beauty evening with Look Good Feel Better, our Soup Lunch with the help of the cadets from 1046 Fordhouses Squadron RAFAC Public Pages, our Coffee Morning in March and finished with Ask the Gardener event which we staged with the help of Tettenhall & District Horticultural Society.

With your generous support they’ve meant that we’ve been able to help some deserving good causes with donations to 1046 Air Training Squadron in Fordhouses, Look Good Feel Better, @Compton Care, Aquabox, ShelterBox, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, Wolverhampton MS Therapy Centre and The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country.

2017/2018 President Alison can be proud of a great year and we’re looking forward to another fun year ahead with Incoming President Jenny.
